Moving towards Greatness!

That is about the bulk of what the Kentucky Chess Ambassadors is all about and that is organizing our chess athletes in such a way that we are firmly focused on moving towards greatness, that is our objective, that is our vision.

Now let me clarify what the Kentucky Chess Ambassadors does...we are a non-profit organization and as such we are the fiscal sponsors for the West Louisville Chess Club and the Queen Nzingha Warriors (an all girls chess team). The Kentucky Chess Ambassadors has other programs too. The include our Urban Chess Coach training program and our Chess Dollars program. Soon we will be offering folk Kentucky Chess Ambassador gift certificates (or cards).

Let me briefly talk about our Chess Dollars program. When a chess athlete earns and redeems 15 Chess dollars, they receive a five dollar gift card from Coach Corbin. The gift cards usually are from locally owned businesses, on-line stock purchases or books (available from Better World Books). Our chess athletes love Chess dollars! It definitely gives them an incentive to learn and retain more information, and to pay attention when Coach lectures. I will never forget one student who was consistently coming out to our meetings, tournaments and workshops. One day that student redeem 45 Chess dollars! The Chess dollars program offers chess athletes a concrete, clear and simple incentive to pay attention, focus, retain and apply information and knowledge. It also indirectly teaches delayed gratification.

Key points...The Kentucky Chess Ambassadors is the fiscal sponsor for the West Louisville Club and the Queen Nzingha warriors. One of our very popular and effective programs is the Chess dollars program. Soon we will be recruiting, training and placing (preferably at Title One schools) certified urban chess coaches.
