DOING OUR OWN REGIONAL TOURNAMENT!

After giving the matter thoughtful, prayerful consideration, and having consulted with a couple of assistant chess coaches, the Kentucky Chess Ambassadors is committed to doing a regional scholastic tournament in June 2023.

It will be an over the board tournament. It will be held at Launch Louisville, 816 East Broadway (Louisville, KY). It will have rated and unrated sections. It will be THE scholastic tournament you will not want to miss!

We committed to doing a regional before the pandemic hit. In fact, we had arrangements with the University of Louisville. Let me make this real clear- THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL TO ME AND MY CHESS ATHLETES! They showed me more love and respect than what I could ever explain. May God richly bless the University of Louisville!! Unfortunately, we simply had to cancel that tournament due to government regulations and restrictions.

But those restrictions are gone, and according the President Joe Biden, the epidemic is over, and you better believe my chess athletes are eager to do a major, over the board tournament. So, that is what we are doing....again, it will be in June 2023. The name of the tournament is the DERBY CITY CHESS CLASSIC.

I am going to need to raise 10,000 dollars to make sure the tournament puts the city of Louisville and the Commonwealth of Kentucky on BLAST! Another major goal is making sure as many Title One school teams and/or students are competing.

I will be in touch!
